2021 WLO Virtual Reception

The 8th Annual Women Leaders in Oncology® Reception

Monday, June 7, 2021

The 2021 WLO Reception will be held virtually again, following the incredible success of last year’s event. Lori Pierce, MD, FASTRO, FASCO, the 57th ASCO President, whose history with ASCO dates back to 1992, will be our featured keynote speaker. Speaking from the platform of, “Equity: Every patient. Every day. Everywhere.” Dr. Pierce will elaborate on a theme WLO strongly supports. The reception will once again bring us together virtually for fellowship and inspiration and to celebrate the women who are making a difference in oncology.

Honoring Tomorrow's Women Leaders of Oncology

WLO is proud to fund the annual WLO Women Who Conquer Cancer Young Investigator Award, given to women who are reaching new heights in cancer research. Past recipients, chosen by a peer-review process modeled after that of the National Institutes of Health, have contributed to our understanding of how we can identify and treat all forms of cancer. In 2020, for the first time ever, we were able to fund an additional Young Investigator Award due to your generous support and donations. We hope to continue this momentum in 2021.

WLO Women Who Conquer Cancer Young Investigator Award 2020 Recipient

2020’s recipient, Molly Taylor, MD, Seattle Children's Hospital, is using her grant to continue her investigation on the biobehavioral model of stress and resilience in adolescents and young adults with cancer.

“Awards like the WWCC WLO Young Investigator Award are the lifeblood for junior physician-scientists like myself. Without this support, it would not be possible to conduct the research that is not only vital to establishing our academic careers but hopefully ushers in the next generation of scientific discovery for our patients and families.”
